Niaz Zaman completed her two-year MA in English from the University of Dhaka in 1963. She
taught at Holy Cross College and Chittagong University, before joining the Department of English,
University of Dhaka, in February 1972. At present she is Advisor, Department of English and
Modern Languages, Independent University, Bangladesh. Apart from academic writings, she writes
in different creative genres. She is also a translator and, in 2016, received the prestigious Bangla
Academy Award for Translation. Her other honours include the Anannya Sahitya Puroshkar
(2013) and the UPL award for Prolific Author (2018).
