Dr. Urmee Chakma
Dr. Urmee Chakma is currently a Teaching and Research Associate in the Faculty of Education, Monash University, Australia. She completed her BA (Hons.) from the Department of English, University of Dhaka. She obtained her MA from the same Department in 1996. She has a zeal for the academia and has been an educator for over 15 years, having taught at several universities and language institutes in Australia. Her PhD thesis was entitled “Empowerment and Desubalternising Voices through Education – A Case Study of Diasporic Indigenous Chakma in Melbourne.” She has published her research in reputed journals and her areas of research interest include Indigenous education, diasporic communities, citizenship studies, power, and social justice.
